(updates in italics)
Ok,
if you watched the announcement video, then you are in the right
place for the first ever Unagi Observe AMV Contest!!! And as
promised, here are the rules:
DATES:
August
5, 2016 – by 11:59pm. That is for any of you sending your
AMV to me via email. If you are sending via mail (see below), make
sure the postmark is by August 5th, 2015.
September
5, 2016 – The winners will be announced, and their AMV's
posted.
September
12, 2016 – It is my sincere hope that the prizes will all
be mailed by this date.
HOW
TO GET YOUR AMV TO ME:
YouTube
– Post your AMV to YouTube,
this is now the PREFERRED
method. Email me your link to theunagiobserver@hotmail.com.
Along with the required information that I have listed below.
Mediafire
– Send me a link for the download, along with the other
pertinent information, in an email to me
at theunagiobserver@hotmail.com . If for some reason I
cannot download it, I will email you back.
Email
– Not preferred, but if you have to, ok. The email address
is theunagiobserver@hotmail.com . Keep in mind that there
is a 25MB limit to what you can send me. Depending upon how many (if
any) AMV's I get will determine if I can piece your AMV together if
you send it in different pieces. If you do this, please understand
that I am relying on you to tell me the correct order of the pieces.
If you don't tell me, I'l do my best, but you have yourself to blame
if I do it wrong...and if I have too many AMV's I won't do it and
tell you via email
Mail
– If all else fails; send me an email
at theunagiobserver@hotmail.com to let me know you can't
send It to me any other way. I will give you a mailing address, but
the AMV HAS to be postmarked August 5, 2016. I would
suggest to you to place tracking on it if you wish to know if I
received it or not. I will not respond to inquiries asking if I have
received it yet or not.
I
will notify you via email when I receive your AMV. If there are any
complications with being able to download, or to upload your AMV. If
I need more information from you, or your AMV doesn't comply with the
rules, you will notified ASAP.
NOTE: I
WILL NOT RETURN YOUR AMV TO YOU SO MAKE A COPY FOR YOURSELF!!!!

DA
RULES, DA RULES:
Simultaneous
submissions are fine with me. But check with other contests to make
sure it is OK.
NO subtitles.
Unless, YOU write them...sparingly...
NO watermarks.
Some editing software, like Divix, puts watermarks on videos you
make. Sorry, you will be disqualified if that shows up.
NO American
or Japanese voice actors can be heard in your AMV. None. You may do a
dub, but there cannot be any voice actors heard on the AMV. It's
copyright/actor thing. If it's there, you are disqualified.
NO live
action...at all!!!!
You
may NOT have the majority of your AMV dubbed. A few
seconds here and there is fine...but that's it. Otherwise,
disqualified at my judgement.
This
contest doesn't have categories. But I am looking for music videos,
only...no fansubs/dubs, no trailer videos...just straight up AMV's.
NO
HENTAI!!!!! Fan service is fine as long as there is no
nudity, but no hentai, tentacle rape...you get the idea. Immediate
disqualification.
Be
mindful of the violence. While my channels are geared for otaku who
are past their tweens and up, I still have, from time to time,
younger viewers. I'm not saying there can't be violence, just make
sure it isn't gratuitous and violence for its own sake. If it is too
much for me (and that takes a lot), then it will be disqualified.
Ideally,
keep your AMV to 100MB. If it is over, that is fine, but if YouTube
won't allow me to publish your AMV if you should win, I would like to
post it on my blogger sites, and they have a 100MB limit.
10
minute run-time. Anything over that gets disqualified.
FORMATS: Since
this will be all online, I will not quibble too much over ratios. But
the AMV's MUST be in one of the following formats:
mpeg, mp4 or wmv.
DISC
FORMATS: Alright, if I tell you to mail it to me and I give
you the address, I need the disc to be formatted so that I can
download from the disc in one of the three formats from above. Do NOT
make it into a DVD!!! And again, I will not be returning the disc to
you, so you are responsible for making a copy to keep for yourself.
DO
NOT USE CLIPS FROM THE AMV'S OF OTHERS, NOR PLAGERIZE!!!
Any
music may be used by you. However, YouTube may have some issues with
it, which may require me to post it on my blogs should you be a
winner.
SLIDESHOWS
WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFIED!!
It
has to be anime. No Airbender, no Clone Wars, no Samurai Jack...it
has to be established as anime. The production company can be
non-Japanese, but it has to be considered anime.
JUDGING:
I
and a friend will be judging among a list of criteria.
Music/Anime
Fit – Does the song fit the anime? Does the anime fit the
song?
Music
– Any style of music is fine. Seriously, it does...just to
give you an idea, quite a few of my mixes will have both punk and
opera on it. But, if the song sucks....
ALL
NARUTO AMV'S THAT USE LINKIN PARK'S MUSIC WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE
DISQUALIFIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anime
– You will not be judged on what you use, but how you use
it. With the above exception.
Technical
– The better crafted your AMV is, the better you will do.
Make good use of editing tools. If it looks like crap, well...what's
the point?
GOOD
LUCK!!!
I
hope that this actually works out!! If it does, then good luck to you
and on September 5th, the winners will be announced.
Oh,
and one last thing...if any of you dare send my a My Little Pony
video...I will reach through the internet and punch you in the neck.
A lot.
